Lanikai Solid Zebrawood (Tenor Acoustic/Electric)
The exotic series from Lanikai features ukuleles that are crafted from woods that are considered rarities in today’s world. Due to that fact, there are limited numbers of these ukuleles. One of the ukes from this range is the Lanikai Solid Zebrawood Tenor ukulele, the Acoustic/Electric variation.
Giving you the best of two worlds when it comes to playing your ukulele, you can decide whether you feel like an acoustic playing experience or an electric variation without having to changing instruments. A Fishman Sonitone ukulele pickup is built in, with a Fishman Sonicore preamp which will turn your vibrations into electric signals ready for your amplifier, and have the vibrations balanced and stabilized for optimum sound. The volume and tone controls are easily located as they are mounted in the sound hole.
The hardwood that is gaining scarcity as time goes by, zebrawood, is used in crafting the top, back and sides of this tenor ukulele. Rosewood makes up the fingerboard and bridge, with ovangkol as the neck. There is a maple and rosewood skunk stripe along the back, which compliments the striped zebra-like façade of the body.
The tuning mechanism consists of gold plated Grover tuning machines with a slotted headstock. A custom wide bone nut gives more space between the strings, which are the premium Italian Aquila Nylgut strings, making playing this ukulele more guitar-like. An added plus point for those musicians who are moving from the guitar to the ukulele, or are expanding their musical palette to incorporate the ukulele.
If you are new to the ukulele, there is assistance from Mary Lou Dempler, the renowned ukulele instructor, in the form of a very comprehensive and easy to follow instruction booklet. You will be playing the ukulele like an experienced player within a day.
The Lanikai Solid Zebrawood Tenor Acoustic / Electric is priced at $550.00.
