The Ukulele – LUSSS Soprano
The Ukulele LUSSS Soprano
Getting yourself a Lanikai is like getting yourself the Harry Winston of ukeleles; it is the foremost professional the ukulele maker, and is currently owned by Hohner from Germany. It is indeed the best of both worlds, combining true Hawaiian heritage and craftsmanship with the precision and accuracy of the Germans.
From here comes the Solid Spruce Premium Series from Lanikai, the ukulele crafted from a combination of premium grade wood.
The ukulele is made for a myriad of musicians in mind: the budding musician, the instrument-switching musician, the ukelele prodigy musician and the guitar-playing musician. Basically, any and every type of instrumentalist there is will find the LUSSS with easy playability and maximum adaptability.
The Ukulele LUSSS Soprano is handcrafted from spruce, mahogany and rosewood; the top from solid spruce, the back and sides from mahogany and the fret board from rosewood. The result of these 3 woods being crafted together into one instrument produces sounds with a lilting tone and sufficient projection that can be heard clearly in normal or slightly louder environments.
Measuring the LUSSS Soprano, you get a scale length of 13.625” and a width at nut of 35mm, keeping with the standard soprano the ukulele measurements. The top of the LUSSS has maple binding for added strength and durability. Running along the scale length, the LUSSS has 18 frets and is strung with top quality nylon catgut strings from Italy; the Aquila Nylgut.
Tuning the LUSSS is very easy and is extremely accurate with its chrome die-cast geared tuning machine. However, with the combination of the Italian strings and the superior tuning mechanism, there will be less need for tuning your LUSSS frequently, as it will hold its tune reasonably well. Bear in mind though, that it is imperative to tune your uke from time to time, and that your strings will not last forever, requiring a change when necessary for your optimum musical experience.
